EHR [NextGen] - Education
These training documents were prepared by University of South Alabama, who is using NextGen. I found much of the information helpful, however some items do not pertain to us in Dermatology or to Solano Dermatology.

In the training pdf "Medication Module" they recommended having medications in the system for documenting a type of med that the patient doesn't know the specifics about.
I decided to add the following medications to our database, and are now available to add to a patient's medication list.
- Birth Control Pill - Unspecified
- Blood Pressure Med - Unspecified
- Diabetes Med - Unspecified
- Pain Med - Unspecified
An example of why this may be important: A female patient on Accutane needs to be taking two forms of birth control precautions. The patient states they are on Birth Control, but don't know which one. NextGen only lets you add prescriptions from the list of meds in the database as active medications. Now, we can add the "Birth Control Pill - Unspecified" medication to that patient's medication list.
I also added "Freehand Rx - See Special Instructions" to our database. This will allow you to e-prescribe a medication that you cannot find in the NextGen database. Add a note - with the drop down "Prescribe" and type the name and strength of the medication. Then complete the Sig, and eRX like other scripts.
